London in 8 hours (Pictorial)

1/1/2011, 9:45 a.m.  Goodbye Germany!  The next couple of hours were pretty quiet as we left our friends in Germany for parts West.

About 6 hours and 400 miles later, in Belgium.  We Bob you too?...

1/2/2011, around 12:30 a.m. we arrived in Milton Keynes, where I sit now.  Ordered some pizza and fell asleep quickly.  1700 miles and 5 countries in 9 days!

1/2/2011, 9:45 a.m.  Train to Euston Station (London) and a short walk we arrived at the British Museum.

Some rock with writing on it.  I'll never understand what the hell it says.

Why hello, what are you doing here?

Who's the saddest lion?  You are!

12:30 (ish) walking to Covent Gardens.... Suddenly missing "our" Germans again.

Busker in Covent Gardens.

A "proper" pint of Bitter in the Wellington.

Crowds at the Piazza in Covent Gardens.

Action photography!

3:30 p.m. Tower of London.

Tower bridge from the "Bloody Tower"

Tower bridge from Raleigh's walk.

Hours long line of idiots waiting to see the crown jewels.

I don't think that's the actuall pillow that Anne Boleyn's head fell onto.  It looks newer than that.

Tower bridge at sunset.

Popped into the Dicken's Inn for a snack before heading back to the hotel!
5:30 p.m. With several of the Underground lines and station shut down for maintenance we hopped a very full bus back towards a station that would take us back to Euston.  In 24 hours we'd driven by car, boat, train, bus and subway.  In another 15 hours Gena would add a plane to the mix.

Later we met up with Julian and Lou for dinner and drinks.  Great night, great day, great vacation.
In a word the next morning sucked.  58 days and counting....
